Hellnahellir is the biggest man-made cave in Iceland, about 200 square meters. It is first time mentioned in some manuscripts from 1332. The cave is open for tourists by arrangement.

The caves are well-known for their special acoustics. Concerts have been held in it and the bishop of Iceland has held a holy service there.

Rútshellir. The main cave is straight and arched and at least 20 meters long. It was used to store hay.
